Armand graduated from École Polytechnique, ENSAE and Sciences Po. He started his career in web project management in India in 2007. He is a serial entrepreneur as he founded Silverline IT Solutions and then Dual technologies Services, companies focused on the development of web apps in 2007. Armand then founded Sendinblue in 2012 with the conviction that the ongoing digitalization of SMBs is a market full of opportunities.

It’s always tricky to find a name, especially for a newly formed company and our firm is no exception. We chose geography to nurture our imagination. Legend will say a brainstorming session led to a dart landing on the perfect spot of a world map back in the summer of 2003: Clipperton.

This French coral atoll sitting in the eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of Central America is named after John Clipperton, a British pirate who allegedly used this atoll as a base for his raids. This name was used by France when it officially claimed ownership of this territory in the mid-19th century. Funnily enough, its initial name was “Island of Passion” and even though it’s uninhabited, Clipperton is strategic for France for geopolitical reasons and is periodically visited by scientific researchers.

A French island, with an English name, what were the odds! The Clipperton name could not define us and illustrate our culture better: adventure, passion, innovation, a scientific and analytical approach, French roots but cross-border reach: we are Clipperton and those are the values we stand for.

Bertrand Uzeel & Jérémy Clédat

In 2015, Bertrand & Jérémy co-founded Welcome to the Jungle, a multichannel media company that aims to inspire every individual to thrive in their professional lives. Friends for around 10 years, they co-founded a first company in 2012, Verso Productions, a digital video production agency.

Bertrand started his career as a music composer, then moved towards video production. In parallel of its role at WTTJ, Bertrand is an active investor in multiple companies (a.o. eldorado.co, trustfolio, Encore). Jérémy, ESCP graduate, previously worked at Creadev and Audacia in Venture Capital, where he was in touch with many start-ups with recruitment/employer branding issues.

Stefan Brehm, Dirk Owerfeldt & Reinhard Martens

A team of serial entrepreneurs teamed up in 2012 to build Gastrofix and disrupt the European hospitality market with its enterprise-grade (and yet simple) cloud-based POS platform. Dirk founded a PC-based POS software company for hotel and restaurant chains in the 90s (also called Gastrofix), which back then got acquired by competitor TCPOS in 2001. Reinhard founded a mobile gaming startup before holding management positions at leading telcos (incl. Vodafone, O2 and T-Mobile), while Stefan founded the first European online table reservation system Bookatable that he exited to Livebookings/Michelin.

After anticipating the wave of cloud-computing and how mobile devices are re-shaping the world, the team got back in the game with Gastrofix and is now developing the European leader in cloud-based POS solutions for the hospitality industry.

Julien Hervouet

Julien is emblematic of the new generation of successful French entrepreneurs. A determined innovator, he joined Jeremie Berrebi at Zlio in 2006, a start-up that enabled users to create over 300,000 virtual stores and sell products in a few clicks. Julien then founded iAdvize in 2010, a state-of-the-art SaaS conversational platform enabling businesses to detect and engage visitors. iAdvize raised €14m in 2015 with Iris Capital and Bpifrance.

Didier Rappaport has been at the forefront of the Internet scene since he developed B2B online services in the 2000s. He co-founded Dailymotion – now the second largest video-sharing platform in the world – and was its COO until late 2008. Relentless and creative, Didier is the co-founder and CEO of Happn, the dating app that is poised to turn the dating industry upside down.

Georges Karam

Georges counts as one of the most prominent entrepreneurs in the telecommunication space and served at various executive positions in the telecom industry incl. Juniper Networks, Alcatel, Sagem & Philipps.

Today, Sequans is recognized as one of the most successful ventures of the last 10 years and is now a worldwide leader of LTE for IoT. Amedeo is Chairman of the Board of Linxens and CEO of Inside Secure. He has a long career in high tech companies and spent the first 12 years of his professional life in semiconductors. He then spent 14 years in the smart card industry where he held various senior management positions, including President of Gemplus International, COO of Oberthur Card Systems and CEO of Ingenico, the World leader in payment terminal, where he executed a very successful turnaround of the company.

Christophe has been Chief Executive Officer of Linxens since October 2011. Christophe has more than 20 years of experience in the electronics industry. He has worked in a variety of senior management positions for more than 10 years at NXP Semiconductors (previously Philips Semiconductors). From 2006 to 2009, Christophe was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Identification Business Unit at NXP Semiconductors.

Eric is the archetype of the serial entrepreneur. He cofounded Inventel in 1990 with Jacques Lewiner (his doctoral supervisor at ESPCI). The company became a leading set-top-box manufacturer; in 2005, he sold Inventel to Thomson. Between 2008 and 2010, he then co-founded Withings (iOt, inventor of the first connected body scale), Sculpteo (3D printing) and Invoxia. Eric holds a PhD from the Pierre and Marie Curie University, and has authored over 50 patents.
