Nicolas co-founded with Stéphane Valorge Clipperton in 2003 and has been involved in over 200 transactions of the company’s transactions since the creation of the company. Nicolas’ focus verticals are proptech and foodtech/agritech.
Notable deals include: Braincube raising €83m with Scottish Equity Partners and Bpifrance to consolidate its international leadership in industrial AI; Capital Croissance selling its majority stake in Equativ to Bridgepoint Development Capital; Gandi, the leading French web and email hosting service, joining forces with Pan-European champion Total Webhosting Solutions; Groupe BPCE and combine Swile and Bimpli; Ecovadis receiving a $500m investment from Astorg, General Atlantic (BeyondNetZero) and GIC and becoming a unicorn; Ardian Expansion successfully acquiring Artefact SA, a global leader in data science and data transformation solutions.
Nicolas is an HEC alumnus and post-graduated in Finance and Economy at Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) / Paris School of Economics, where he focused on R&D issues.

Thibaut joined Clipperton in 2009. Thibaut focuses on the Cybersecurity, BigData, and HR Tech verticals.
He successfully closed more than 100 deals, advising clients such as Vade Secure, the leading email security software company on its trade sale to Hornet Security; Welcome to the Jungle, France’s major SaaS player in the employer branding and recruitment space, on €50m Series C, as well as its acquisition of Otta; HarfangLab, a French Cybersecurity software company, on its €25m VC financing led by Crédit Mutuel Innovation, with the participation of MassMutual Ventures and Elaia; vLex, the award-winning online subscription platform offering easy access to the largest collection of legal information in a single service, welcoming Oakley Capital to its capital; Ekimetrics, the datascience for business company on its Growth Equity transaction led by Tikehau.
He graduated from École Polytechnique (X 1993) and ENSAE, and holds a Master of Science in Finance & Economics from the London School of Economics.

Antoine Ganancia has been with Clipperton since 2010, contributing to over 80 high-profile transactions, with a strong emphasis on Health Tech, SaaS, and consumer application businesses. Antoine has played a role in significant M&A deals and Private Equity financings for leading tech companies across Europe. His key transactions include Braincube’s $90M round with Scottish Equity Partners, DentalMonitoring’s $150m growth financing with Merieux Equity and Vitruvian, Inova’s $70m investment by Carlyle, the sale of Fruitz to Bumble [NASDAQ: BMBL], the fundraising of $60m of Withings with Gilde Healthcare and Eurazeo, or Brevo’s $160m round by Bridgepoint, Bpifrance and Blackrock.
Before joining Clipperton, Antoine began his career at Mars & Co., working on projects for Fortune 500 clients in the Consumer Electronics industry. He then advanced his career at Apple EMEA Headquarters in London.
Antoine is a HEC alumnus and holds a Master’s in Digital Business Strategy from Telecom Paris (ENST) and HEC Paris.

Thomas de Montille joined Clipperton in 2013 and focuses on travel tech, B2B services, and consumer businesses.
Over the years Thomas advised numerous technology leaders on the sell-side in M&A transactions and Private Equity financings, including notably Wikiloc (investment from Miura Partners), Gymlib (sold to EGYM), Click&Boat (investment from Permira and Boats Group), Musement (sold to TUI Group), Aramisauto (sold to Stellantis) or Odoo (Series B and C rounds). He also assisted a number of high profile Private Equity funds on the buy-side including recently Astorg ($500m investment in EcoVadis) and Capza (investment in Travelsoft).
Before joining Clipperton, Thomas spent over four years with Jefferies as part of the Technology Investment Banking team based in London.
Thomas graduated from EDHEC business school and holds an MSC in finance.

Dr. Nikolas Westphal joined Clipperton as a Partner, acts as Head of Germany, and is responsible for the acceleration and expansion of Clipperton’s footprint in Germany and German-speaking countries (DACH) since 2020.
At Clipperton, Nikolas has been involved in several landmark M&A deals such as gridscale (sale to OVHcloud), Smartlook (sale to Cisco), Dan.com (sale to GoDaddy), Eijsink (sale to Metro), 8fit (sale to Withings), or Packlink (sale to Thoma Bravo’s portfolio company Auctane).
Before joining Clipperton, Nikolas served at Morgan Stanley, Arma Partners, and GP Bullhound. Throughout his career to date, his experience has included marketing, structuring, and executing a broad set of transactions, including M&A sell/buy-side advisory, debt and equity recapitalizations (including private placements and public offerings), and other strategic M&A and capital advisory services.
Nikolas graduated from Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL) and holds a Doctorate of Economics (Magna Cum Laude).
Olivier Combaudou
Olivier Combaudou
Olivier Combaudou joined Clipperton in 2011 and has participated in over 60 transactions since then, with a specific focus on retail tech, cybersecurity, and B2C models.
At Clipperton, Olivier has been involved in several landmark M&A deals such as Advens (sale of a minority stake to CAPZA), Private Sports Shop (merger with SportPursuit), In the Memory (sale to SES-imagotag), or Matooma (sale to Wireless Logic). He also advised several category leaders on their acceleration rounds, such as vLex, Inova, Brevo (formerly named Sendinblue), Lengow, and Vestiaire Collective.
Before joining Clipperton, Olivier worked at Alven Capital where he participated in Series A/B rounds for tech companies. He then joined Carrefour working on pricing & development of new distribution models for the online non-food department.
Olivier is an HEC Paris alumnus and holds a Master’s in Digital Business Strategy from Telecom Paris (ENST).

Martin Vielle joined Clipperton in 2012, where he was involved in over 50 transactions with a particular focus on B2B software, mobility, and deep tech.
Martin advised technology category leaders on their financial operations such as Aramisauto (sold to Stellantis), Ekimetrics (€25 million fundraising), Withings ($60 million fundraising), Foederis (sold to Septeo Group), or Didomi ($40 million Series B). He also assisted several high-profile investment funds including Ardian (€330m take-private of Artefact), Mérieux Private Equity (investment in DentalMonitoring), and MBO+ (investment in Praxedo).
Before joining Clipperton, Martin worked at CM-CIC Corporate Finance where he was involved in several mid-cap M&A operations in the technology sector. Prior to that, he worked as a Strategy Consultant with AC Nielsen.
Martin is an ESSEC Business School alumnus and also studied at Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada.

Andreas Hering joined Clipperton in 2022 as Executive Director and has since been leading the expansion of the Munich office. As a TMT M&A banker, Andreas brings 15 years of experience in mid-market transactions in the digital media, software & e-commerce sectors, both in Munich and London, having previously served at goetzpartners.
With outstanding experience in buy-side and sell-side mandates as well as fundraising transactions for private equity and growth equity funds, corporates and startups, and a deep understanding of B2B and B2C business models in his focus areas of digital media, software, and e-commerce, Andreas will continue to strengthen Clipperton’s advisory platform.

Laurence joined Cipperton in September 2024 as a Partner and is heading the Debt Advisory practice.
A seasoned corporate finance expert, Laurence de Rosamel brings over 18 years of experience in debt advisory, financial restructuring, and capital markets to Clipperton, gained at DC Advisory, Oddo BHF, and Clearwater International, where she was heading the Paris team and led business development for Europe. Laurence has advised mid-market clients across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, consumer goods, industrials, and services, on a broad range of financing transactions.
Laurence holds a Master's in Financial Techniques from ESSEC Business School and a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Finance from Mays Business School in Texas, USA.

Marc joined Clipperton in 2015 and is now Executive Director. Marc has advised multiple transactions in ESG Software, supply chain technology, hospitality software, and martech/adtech.
The most recent landmark transactions Marc has advised were: Welcome to the Jungle, France’s major SaaS player in the employer branding and recruitment space, on its Series A to Series C, as well as its acquisition of Otta; Grasp, a media governance & data SaaS platform for the advertising industry, on its sale to Bridgepoint’s portfolio company MiQ; Smartlook’s sale to Cisco; Reporting 21, a leading sustainability-focused SaaS platform, acquired by Thoma Bravo’s portfolio company Cority; the acquisition of Packlink, a leading European multi-carrier SMB shipping company, by Thoma Bravo's portfolio company Auctane.

Before joining Clipperton in 2021, Vanessa worked as the Deputy Head of Strategy and Innovation at La Banque Postale, where she managed M&A, Strategy and Innovation projects. Prior to that, Vanessa worked at Groupe Casino and Groupe Euris-Rallye, for three years as a Strategy and Corporate Planning Project Manager (CEO's cabinet) and for two years as an Investment Deputy Director.
Vanessa Sorel graduated from ESCP Europe.

Ingmar joined Clipperton with the launch of the Berlin office in 2013 (Executive Director since 2023), and focuses his attention on the HospitalityTech sector, including SaaS, Point-of-Sales & Payments solutions for restaurant, hotel & travel industries, as well as e-commerce and digital consumer models centered around food & fitness.
His landmark deals include: Gastrofix’s sale to Lightspeed for up to $125m, the sale of Eijsink to METRO AG, the sale of givve to Group Up, the sale of gridscale, the leading German platform provider for hyper-converged infrastructures, to OVHCloud; the majority sale of PremiumXL to Verdane; or the sale of eatclever to Peckwater Brands.
Before that, Ingmar served as CEO and co-founder at TableBullies, a digital learning platform for poker players.
Ingmar holds a Diploma in Business Education, with a major in Corporate Finance & Investments from the University of Mannheim, and Sports Science from Heidelberg University.

Before joining Clipperton in 2021, Karim Mekouar worked at Capitalmind as an M&A Senior Associate and at EY as a Senior Consultant in Transaction Advisory Services. His deal experience comprises working on a range of mid-cap transactions focusing on leveraged transactions, covering the software and business services sectors.
Karim graduated from Ecole des Mines. He also holds a dual-degree Master's in Finance and Actuarial Sciences from Claude Bernard University.

Before that, Wael worked as an Analyst at Deloitte France in the Transaction Services team. He further worked at Barclays Investment Bank and Middle East Venture Partners. There, he was involved in a range of transactions across the TMT sector.
Wael graduated from HEC Paris with a Master in Management and holds a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.

Aurélie joined Clipperton in 2011 and acts as Head of Finance & Administration.
Prior to that, she worked for the French arm of the global interactive marketing agency Nurun (Publicis Group) as PA to the CEO as well as working alongside the Operations Director on wider operational issues.
Aurélie also had a career as a professional dancer for four years at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Caen, followed by two years as an administrative assistant at the Centre National de la Danse.

Calixte joined Clipperton in April 2022 and acts as Head of Human Resources.
For over 15 years, he has been in charge of HR management in France and internationally, at L'Oréal, ELIS, Photobox, La Fourchette & TripAdvisor Restaurant, Brigad and PrestaShop, among others.
Calixte holds a Master's degree in HR and Social Law from University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne and studied at EPITA (Ecole d'Ingénieurs en Informatique).

Joris joined Clipperton in May 2022.
Prior to that, Joris worked as a Senior Advisor in the Finance & Strategy department at Dell Technologies. He further worked as an Associate and Senior Associate at Chausson Finance, where his deal experience includes several dozen Venture Capital transactions. Joris also held positions as a VC and PE Analyst at different firms such as Calcium Capital and A Plus Finance.
Joris graduated from Paris Dauphine University with a Master 2 in Corporate Finance and Financial Engineering and further holds a Master 1 in Finance from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Prior to joining, Christopher worked as an Analyst in the Investment Banking Department of Credit Suisse in Switzerland focusing on Swiss large-cap transactions. Before this experience, he interned in the Corporate Finance Departments of Rothschild Co. as well as PWC in Frankfurt, Germany.
Christopher holds a Master’s degree in Software Engineering and Management from Technical University of Berlin.

Before joining Clipperton, Iván worked as an Analyst Intern at DC Placement Advisors, where he focused on Alternative Assets. Prior to that, he was a Consulting Analyst for three years at IQVIA, where he developed expertise in designing and implementing strategies across Management Consulting & Commercial Effectiveness.
Iván graduated from the MBA program at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He also holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering from ITAM.

Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Business in International Hospitality Management from Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Weronika is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Communication at INSEEC MSc.

Stéphane co-founded Clipperton in 2003 and has successfully concluded over 200 transactions since then. He further led the company’s efforts in Germany with the opening of Clipperton’s first office in Berlin in 2013.
Stéphane's landmark deals include transactions such as: Taurus, the leading digital asset infrastructure provider for financial institutions in Europe, on its $65m Series B led by Crédit Suisse; Gastrofix, a leading European SaaS provider of cloud-based POS systems for the hospitality industry, closing a €15m Series B financing led by Radeberger and Endeit Capital; the $37m financing round for Vestiaire Collective, the international leader in luxury and premium resale, led by Eurazeo; Aramisauto, the leading online retailer of used cars in Europe, entering a strategic alliance with Stellantis.

His landmark deals include transactions such as Foederis Group, a leading talent management SaaS vendor, being acquired by Septeo; Click&Boat, the leading digital boat rental platform in Europe, receiving a significant investment from Permira and Boats Group; Inpart, the leading SaaS platform for biopharma collaborations, receiving a $70m growth investment from Carlyle and NextStage AM; Foodles, the first connected canteen service, receiving financing from Creadev, DN Capital and Adelie Capital; and Vestiaire Collective raising $37m with Eurazeo.
Thomas graduated from the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne, post-graduated, and obtained an M.S. in Economics and Corporate Management at the ENSPM/IFP School. He also holds a B.A. in General Economics.

He brings with him more than 40 years of experience in advertising and media, spanning executive roles at Yahoo, The Huffington Post, Criteo, and BuzzFeed, where he most recently served as President. He is currently Executive-in-Residence at Lerer Hippeau.

Guillaume Paoli is the co-founder and CEO of Aramisauto, the leading online automotive retailer in France. Clipperton started to work with Guillaume back in 2008 for a capital raise and kept working together including for the strategic transaction with Peugeot Citroën in 2016 and subsequent acquisitions - read the Aramisauto Story for more details.
He joined Clipperton‘s advisory board in 2018 so as to share his extensive knowledge of the internet industry.

Jean-Alexis Chatelain is our Senior Advisor for Asia, based in Beijing.
Jean-Alexis has worked his whole career in Asia for various high-tech companies. He was Country Manager, China, at Sagem, VP at Ningbo Bird International as well as Modelabs and more recently VP at Transsion Holdings, a leading high-tech company specializing in the R&D, production, sale and service of mobile communication products.

We've known Olivier since 2006 while he was touring Europe to scout for investment opportunities for Wellington Partners. He then took operational roles in start-ups, first Brands4Friends, as the Director of Business & Corporate Development, managing the exit to eBay for €150m, then as MarkaVIP. He then worked at Partech as a General Partner for Germany until early 2019. Olivier is currently Strategic Advisor for the EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne).
Olivier holds an MBA with honors from INSEAD (France/Singapore) and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from the EPFL.

Pablo Fernandez is the co-founder of Clicars.com. It is a €100M profitable online platform that enables users to finance, buy and sell refurbished cars through a more transparent and digital experience. Leader of online car sales in Spain, it was acquired by AramisAuto.com in 2017.
Prior to that, Pablo started his career at BCG in consumer and digital services practices. This happened consecutively after he graduated from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. There, he founded Becasfacil, the largest scholarship website in Spain. He then joined Santander Bank in the investment banking division and the global CFO office and became the youngest Executive Vice President (Head of Strategy & CEO Office Director) at Santander U.S. In 2014, he completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Pablo is an investor in more than 30 startups. He joined Clipperton as a Senior Advisor in 2020 to share his extensive knowledge of the tech ecosystem covering Iberia.

Alessandro Petazzi joined Clipperton in 2021 as Senior Advisor to share his extensive knowledge of the tech ecosystem. He covers the region of Italy as well as the Travel Tech sector and is based in Milan, Italy.
Alessandro is co-founder and CEO of Musement, a booking service for travelers to discover and book in-destination activities, attractions, city passes and guided tours on the go. Clipperton's collaboration with Alessandro dates back to 2018, when we advised Musement on their sale to Tui Group.
Alessandro started his career at Fastweb in senior roles such as Director and Head of Media of its IPTV & Digital media business unit. After that, he worked as Managing Partner at the payTV consulting boutique ON CUBED.
Alessandro Petazzi graduated from Università Bocconi and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration.

Sascha Badelt took on the role of Senior Advisor at Clipperton in 2023, leveraging his extensive knowledge of the tech industry specifically within Spain. He is based in Madrid.
Sascha is a seasoned entrepreneur, venture partner, and angel investor with a remarkable track record in guiding growth companies. He has invested in numerous projects and actively manages a portfolio of startups and scale-ups. Sascha has worked in Spain in various industries, his experience reflects a diverse and accomplished career in roles across entrepreneurship, VC, and advisory roles. Currently serving as the Head of Business Development at Rhyde, Sascha leads Spain’s pioneer refurbished micro-mobility company.
Sascha graduated from the University of Hamburg.

Marc Sluijs joined Clipperton in 2023 as Senior Advisor and covers the Digital Health sector. He is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Through his company Digitalhealth.Network, Marc is advising VC and PE investors such as EQT and Mubadala, Life Sciences companies, as well as various digital health companies such as KAIA Health and Caresyntax. Prior, Marc has spent 20 years working with the Life Sciences industry in a variety of advisory and M&A roles at IQVIA, Accenture, Merck, and Oracle. Marc is also founding advisor to the Digital Therapeutics Alliance and member of the steering committees for Frontiers Health and TechTour Growth Health.
He graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam with a degree in Business Administration. Subsequently, he followed a variety of executive education programs at IMD, London Business School, and INSEAD.

Steffen Boode is a Senior Advisor at Clipperton, based in Amsterdam, where he leverages his deep expertise in the tech sector to drive the firm’s growth and expansion in the Benelux region.
With a strong background as both a business partner and co-founder, Steffen has extensive experience working with high-growth companies, leading brands, and investors across Europe and the U.S. His expertise spans business development, corporate finance, due diligence, and M&A. Steffen’s entrepreneurial activities are backed by a Master’s degree in Economics and Business administration, along with a fellowship at the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts (ACCA).
Before joining Clipperton in 2024, Steffen founded New State Ventures, an independent deal maker for software and technology-led businesses. He also served as a Partner with i5invest, a prominent group of serial entrepreneurs, business angels, and corporate development experts in the tech space, where he led operations in the Netherlands. Earlier in his career, he held roles as Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal and KPMG in both the Netherlands and the U.S., as well as Andersson Elffers Felix (AEF), a leading Dutch strategy consulting firm.
